Um, by the way, I got into Marquette. The acceptance letter had been sent to Chapel Hill so I never got it until last week =.= So much for all the waiting and worrying.
So here we are, Marquette, ranked #77th in the nation, the largest Roman Catholic and Jesuit University, and a Division I school in NCAA. Still not UNC. I wish UW-Madison weren't 2 1/2 hour away, that was my 1st choice and the best school in Wisconsin that matches up to UNC. But oh well.
Looks like Mete is already becoming a Marquette basketball fan. He's been checking on their schedule and stuff.
Me? Once a Tar Heel born, always a Tar Heel bred. I don't mind being a Marquette Golden Eagle, but it doesn't mean I bleed Marquette Gold, kind of hard to stop bleeding Carolina Blue, eh?
And once again, I didn't need backups. I didn't have backups for Texas A&M, UT-Austin, Baylor, and even UNC. I don't like backups. Once I set my mind to something, my extremism doesn't allows me to have backups... I want what I want. And if I don't get it, then I'd prefer getting nothing at all. Yea, that's my perfectionism speaking for me. Anyroad, it was no harm at all, I got in Marquette anyways, backups weren't needed, it's proven.
Much to do. Their financial aid people needed more info. Their advisors haven't called yet, so looks like I have to do the calling. Set up a visit, a good chance for me to see Milwaukee, and get school stuff all done and out of the way. Get classes. And then school starts in 2 weeks.
I'm an ambitious go-getter when it comes to schools. But my experience with UNC tells me that I should take it easy this time, for once in my college career, not taking a crazy load of 21 credit hours and exhaust myself to death. I am starting with 12-15 credit hours for now, getting used to the 80-mile commute in the snow, dealing with the city, and coping with the big move. Nothing is ever too late, I've learned, rushing got me no where, might as well take my time; in order to get a 4.0 GPA, I better do things steady and right.
I also need to start looking into study abroad in the summer! Going to Kenya or South Africa? I can't wait.
Marquette has good undergrad researches, so, that'll make my life easier.
I am also not sure if I should start getting politically active by taking small steps. I was an Young Democrat at UNC, and I sure will join Marquette Young Democrats; but I am also considering being more active and see if I'd take on some responsibilities for the Democratic Party in Wisconsin and at school. I gotta find out if that'll really help my Pre-Law career tho.
